A Story Begins
Dina Scarcelli and Kiana Cummings are the founders of CT Family Learning Centre and Montessori School Inc. Our story is much different from the rest. CT Family Learning Centre and Montessori School Inc is a sibling company of DMS Montessori Preschool and Daycare Inc. founded by Dina Scarcelli, Montessori Teacher, in 2016. Now as co-owner of CT Family Learning Centre and Montessori School Inc., founded in 2022, with Kiana Cummings, RECE, who is an experienced educator who has held various roles in childcare programs in Durham region. Together we can strive to create a new location that will provide children with a loving, caring, nurturing and educational program. It came by naturally to the both of us we both value the independence, diverse learning styles of children. We want to continue to encourage children to know that the road may not look easy but there is always a way to get to where you want to be if you remain focused. As Maria Montessori said, “It is not that man develop in order to work, but that man must work in order to develop. The work of the hand is the expression of psychic growth.” Once you are focused and determined anything is possible.

We decided to incorporate our families into our logo because they have been our biggest supporters throughout our process. The rose symbolizes a lot for both owners for personal reasons. The rose was placed carefully, to intertwine both families.
“Ohana means family and family means nobody gets left behind or forgotten” is a powerful quote from Lilo and Stitch that the owners strongly believe in, which is why FAMILY is one of the core words in our name. Our school community is a family-oriented environment where we want all children and staff to feel welcomed, supported and loved.
CT Family Learning Centre and Montessori School Inc was created out of love, togetherness, ambition, and the drive for the betterment of each child. We are a diverse Montessori School, a nurturing and compassionate environment that strives for excellence. Excellence for both staff and students. We will continue to support the needs of every child. We strive for the independence, creativity and cognitive ability for each student and staff member.
